History

Kirjaclub was founded as a private members club in 2007. It is located in Kruununhaka at the premises of the former restaurant "Kirja". From the very beginning, the idea of ​​the club was to unite gourmet and cigar enthusiasts and to provide a sophisticated club environment for its members. The need for this unique club became particularly pressing when it was no longer possible to smoke in restaurant premises. There has been a restaurant at Kirja House since 1935 and its style has varied over the years. With its beautiful ocean view, large outdoor balcony and fully fitted restaurant kitchen, Kirja is a truly elegant setting for a private club.

At the time of its establishment, more than a hundred people from various professions and backgrounds joined the club. Since then, the number of members has grown steadily and today the club has about 260 members both from Finland and abroad. A five-member board, elected annually and assisted by a Clubmaster, runs the Club and its activities.

Over the years, we have provided members with a wide variety of leisure activities; we offer cooking events as well as sauna and film evenings, product presentations, tastings, visits to cultural events and other trips. Among the sporting events is the annual golf championship. Members can also order lunch and dinner from the club catering service, or arrange their own parties, such as birthdays or other events.

As working remotely has become more common, our facilities have increasingly been utilized for work use as well. Particularly suitable for that purpose is a downstairs meeting cabinet that can be reserved for private use.
